Moving Tips

At Red Brick Moving, we want your move to be as easy and professional as possible.  Help us work together by following the best practices below.

MAKE A LIST

Planning is a key part of a successful move and good planning usually starts with a proper list.  Start by walking your apartment, home, or business and writing a room-by-room inventory of all your furniture.  From there, add details about how much other stuff is in each room (books, lamps, rugs, etc...).  This will make sure we give you a good estimate and nothing is forgotten.

SAY GOODBYE TO UNUSED STUFF

Talk to your friends and family that recently moved and they will tell you about how nice it was to get rid of unused belongings.  Use the opportunity to get rid of anything you haven't used in over a year.  Give it to friends or a local charity if you can, but get it gone! You'll make your move cheaper and feel better about your new, decluttered home.

GET STURDY, UNIFORM PACKING SUPPLIES

Red Brick can help you with packing, but if you want to pack yourself, get similarly sized boxes that can handle a move.  Cheap boxes + poor packing = broken belongings.  There are plenty of options to buy good moving supplies, so take advantage of them if you can.

PACK THE BASICS YOURSELF

Anything bulky or fragile should be packed by professionals, but that leaves plenty that can be packed yourself.  Books, toiletries, folded clothes, and other similar items can be easily packed without needing professional help.
